Overview
This article covers turning the B2B Catalog on for your organization, what Genius sets up when you do, and the two situations where Enable is unavailable.
For what the B2B Catalog is and who does what, read The B2B Catalog — Genius CE & Enterprise first.
Before You Start
Two things control whether you can reach these pages, and they work independently of each other.
The B2B Catalog is available to your organization. Contact your Genius representative to have it switched on.
Your role has the B2B Catalog Settings permission. This is granted separately from general administration access, so a full Administrator can have every other permission and still not see these pages. Ask whoever manages roles at your organization to grant it.
Settings
Navigation: Administration > B2B Catalog
The B2B Catalog area holds two pages:
Page | What it is for |
Catalog Settings | Turning B2B account creation on and off, and seeing its current state. |
Bulk Discounts | Volume pricing, so a larger order gets a lower price per seat. Optional, and independent of the B2B Catalog. |
Catalog Settings Page
The page shows a single card, B2B Catalog Registration, with four rows and an action button.
Row | What it tells you |
Status | Whether B2B account creation is currently on. |
Registration Mode | Which account creation method your organization is set to. There are three, and one of them is the Genius method that turns the B2B Catalog on. |
Parent Affiliation | The Affiliation that new organizations are filed under. |
Affiliation Status | Whether that parent Affiliation is active or archived. |
The button reads Enable or Disable, depending on the current state.
Note: The Genius account creation method ships switched off, so every organization starts with the B2B Catalog unavailable until someone turns it on deliberately.
Turning on the B2B Catalog
Navigation: Administration > B2B Catalog > Catalog Settings
Open the Catalog Settings page.
Click Enable.
Confirm.
What Genius Sets Up
Enabling does everything in one step. Nothing has to be created by hand beforehand.
Switches your organization to the account creation method that lets organizations sign themselves up.
Creates the parent Affiliation named Organizations.
Sets up the B2B Manager role.
Note: If any part of this does not complete, none of it is applied, so the page is either fully set up or unchanged.
When Enable is Unavailable
There are two situations where the button will not turn the B2B Catalog on. In both, the page is working as designed.
Your Organization Creates Accounts Through an Outside Service
A small number of organizations have account creation handled by an external system, set up for them specifically. This page leaves that arrangement in place rather than replacing it. If your organization is in this situation, contact your Genius representative.
The Organizations Affiliation is Archived
New organizations are created inside the Organizations Affiliation, so it has to be active before the B2B Catalog can be turned on. Make it active again, then return to this page and enable.
Important: Once the B2B Catalog is running, leave the Organizations Affiliation active and where it is. New organizations are created inside it, so archiving it or moving it under a different parent stops organizations being able to sign up.
Turning Off the B2B Catalog
Navigation: Administration > B2B Catalog > Catalog Settings
Open the Catalog Settings page.
Click Disable.
Confirm.
Disabling stops new organizations signing themselves up. The Organizations Affiliation is left in place, so you can turn the B2B Catalog back on later without rebuilding anything.
