Bulk Discounts - Genius CE & Enterprise

Overview

A Bulk Discount is a named set of price tiers attached to Courses. It gives a lower price per seat as more seats are bought — for example, 7% off for 1 to 10 seats and 15% off for 11 to 25.

Tiers

Each tier is a seat range and the discount that applies to it. You set three values per tier:

Field

What it means

From (seats)

The smallest order this tier applies to.

To (seats)

The largest order this tier applies to.

Discount %

The percentage taken off for orders in that range.

A set of tiers looks like this:

From (seats)

To (seats)

Discount %

1

10

7

11

25

15

Note: The last tier has no upper limit, so an order larger than any tier you set still receives your top discount rather than reverting to full price.

Periods

A Bulk Discount either runs permanently or between two dates.

  • Leave the dates blank and the Bulk Discount is always on.

  • Set dates and it applies between them. The end date is included, so a Bulk Discount ending June 30 still applies on June 30.

Which Courses a Bulk Discount Covers

A Course can be covered by one active Bulk Discount at a time.

If a Course is already assigned to an always-on Bulk Discount, a second one cannot also claim it. Saving returns an error naming the Course, so you can see which one is causing it.

There are two ways a Course can appear in more than one Bulk Discount:

Situation

What happens

Two dated Bulk Discounts on the same Course

Allowed, as long as their date ranges never overlap. This is how you run different pricing across a year.

A Bulk Discount covering all Courses

It does not claim any Course individually, so it never collides with another. A Course with its own Bulk Discount uses that one instead.

Note: A Bulk Discount covering all Courses works as a baseline. Set one as your standard rate, then add specific Bulk Discounts for the Courses that need different pricing — the specific one applies.

Active and Archived

Only active Bulk Discounts apply, and only active ones hold a claim on their Courses. Archiving one releases its Courses, so another Bulk Discount can then be associated.
