Note: We're rolling the new Section design out gradually. If you don't see Duplicate on a Section, your organization has the current Section page. There, Save as New Record appears only after you create a Section, and it saves that form as another new Section.
Overview
Duplicate copies an existing Section into a new Section. You can duplicate any Section at any time, including archived and canceled Sections.
The copy carries over some of the original Section's information, and you can change any of it before you save. The copy starts as Active.
Before You Start
Permission: you need permission to add Sections. If you don't have it, ask whoever manages roles at your organization.
Set after saving: Price Options and Quantity Registration aren't copied. You set them after you save the copy.
Scheduling: a copy with the same Instructor, dates, and meeting times conflicts with the original Section. Have the new dates and times ready. To resolve a conflict, see Creating and Editing a Section - Genius CE & Enterprise.
Name and IDs: the copy keeps the original's Section Name and its LMS Course ID, External Code, and D2L Offering ID. Have a new name ready, and new IDs if the copy needs its own course.
Duplicate a Section
Open the Section's information page.
Click Duplicate at the top-right of the page, next to Edit.
The "Duplicate this Section?" window lists what will and won't be copied. Click Yes, duplicate.

Quantity Registration: the copy uses Inherit from Course. To change it, click Edit on the saved copy and set Quantity Registration in Enrollment Setup and Capacity.
Save the Copy
A new Section opens with the duplicated information pre-filled. Make any changes. See Review before saving.
Click Save. Genius shows "Section created" and opens the new Section.
Nothing is saved until you click Save. To stop without creating a Section, click Cancel. You return to the original Section's information page.
Review Before Saving
Start Date, End Date, and Enroll by Date: check each one.
Term, Instructors, and meeting times: keep or change each one. Meeting times are copied by day of the week and time.
Course: you can change it until you save.
D2L Brightspace: to create a new course for the copy, leave LMS Course ID empty.
